Micro Biogas Italia produces compact, automatic, reliable and quick-to-install biogas systems, capable of producing electricity and heat starting only from the surry and manure produced by animal farms, and more generally from residues biomass.
The company is the company that first introduced the technology of micro-biogas systems in Italy, and is today the company with the greatest experience and know-how in this market, borrowing decades of experience resulting from collaboration with European partners, with over 40 installations across the country.
It organizes and coordinates the different phases of supply and assembly of the systems, guaranteeing a regular monitoring and after-sales assistance service for all installations.
It also offers the necessary advice to choose the system that can ensure the greatest efficiency and profitability based on the characteristics of the farm.
Interview with Eng.Luca Guidetti, O&M Department at Micro Biogas Italia.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Luca Guidetti: The main areas concern renewable energy, the circular economy and sustainability related to the zootechnical sector.
E.E: What’s the news about new products/services?
L.G: Certainly, the most innovative aspect concerns the possibility of installing small-sized systems, starting from 20kWe which can be adopted in small farms starting from 100 cattles. In this way even small agricultural companies can equip the system independently and can take advantage of the economic advantages, as well as contributing to the circular economy which aims to enhance the sustainability of agricultural processes. CO2 emissions are significantly reduced, up to 300 tons/year for every 20kWe installed.
E.E: What are the ranges of products/services?
L.G: Micro Biogas Italia covers all the activities required to project, produce, install, startup and maintain the system, offering turnkey solutions.
The micro-biogas systems are offered in multiple sizes, in order to closely match the capacities of the farms 20kWe, 25kWe, 37kWe, 49kWe, 63kWe, 77kWe, 100kWe. Micro Biogas Italia offers micro-biogas system in two main versions: wet systems and dry systems. The wet system is a regular biogas plant using liquid/pumpable inputs and resulting in a liquid digestate at the end of the process. The dry system is a breakthrough innovation since is capable of using dry inputs without dilution addition, resulting in dry digestate at the end of the process.
E.E: What is the state of the market where you are currently active?
L.G: In Italy the market for micro-biogas systems is growing strongly. There are many initiatives that the Government is implementing to encourage the Circular Economy and environmental sustainability, as well as renewable energy production.
Specifically, there are two factors that contribute to the growth of micro-biogas:
- The growing demands from national and European institutions to improve the environmental impact of livestock farming identifies the adoption of a biogas plant as an immediately feasible central solution.
- The increasing prices of electricity and thermal energy are further valid reasons to valorize one’s own manure in a biogas micro-plant, which allow even a small farm to obtain a significant supplementary income that is stable or growing over time.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
L.G: If we look at the market as a whole, we see that the main need is to increase the agriculture environmental sustainability, aiming to reduce pollutants, odours and CO2 emissions. If we focus on our specific market it’s very noticeable that the growing trend is to install micro biogas plants that lead the agricultural companies to a notable decrease in CO2 emissions.
Recently we’ve also seen huge turmoil from farmers due to profitability issues on their companies. Micro-biogas plants could provide great help in solving this problem too.
E.E: What are the most innovative products/services marketed?
L.G: We can say that the most innovative products/services find their maximum expression in small-scale micro-biogas plants, from 20kW to 100kW. This new approach to biogas production is the turning point to contribute to a circular economy, sustainable as well as economically advantageous for those who decide to install a micro system.
E.E: What estimations do you have for the beginning of 2024?
L.G: Micro Biogas Italia looks ahead and sees an agricultural sector that is increasingly attentive to sustainability, we have already noticed an increase in requests, given the trend they can only increase, we are ready and prepared to respond promptly to the different needs, inside and outside Italy.
