INTERVIEW WITH MRTECH SK

MRTech SK is a Slovakia-based company with global operations. The company develops performance-accelerating software and hardware technologies for machine vision solutions and embedded systems.

Working together as a cohesive team, they market IFF SDK, a proprietary high-performance toolkit for image processing, and carry out various machine vision projects to assist customers of all sizes and levels of maturity in converting ideas into working systems.

Established in 2013, MRTech Headquarters is located just a step away from Nitra, Western Slovakia, one of the oldest cities in the country. As the Authorized Technology Partner of XIMEA, a leading manufacturer of cutting-edge machine vision cameras, MRTech sets up the R&D office at XIMEA’s campus near Bratislava.

Interview with Igor Dvoretskiy, CEO at MRTech SK, s.r.o.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Igor Dvoretskiy: First of all, I would like to wish all easyengineering.eu users and the website’s editorial team a happy New Year. May your 2023 be filled with success and good fortune!

MRTech SK targets the machine vision market, delivering solutions for embedded, industrial, scientific, and entertainment applications. As such, we focus on the following areas:

  • Licensing and selling our IFF SDK system to match customers’ needs.
  • Providing comprehensive software consulting and support services and assisting customers with SDK integration, including in-depth project analysis, recommendations on system architecture, etc.
  • Customizing the target application or IFF SDK processing modules according to the customer’s needs and implementing new image processing algorithms
  • Delivering machine vision projects on behalf of our customers and developing custom hardware, comprehensive prototypes, etc.

We often use the NVIDIA Jetson platform when implementing embedded systems projects for our clients.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

I.D: At the beginning of 2022, we launched a new product, MRTech IFF SDK (Image Flow Framework SDK), a powerful cross-platform toolkit to facilitate the development of high-performance machine vision and image processing applications. We initially developed the core elements of IFF SDK in 2016 and have been continuously improving and using them in various projects ever since.

The main feature of IFF SDK is delivering images to the customer’s application code in the most efficient way. As such, the toolkit helps achieve maximum performance for any configuration of the customer’s image processing system.

After the initial release, we made two updates to the SDK: the toolkit is now compatible with a wide range of cameras and computer equipment while offering users expanded functionality. MRTech IFF SDK boasts a production-ready, high-quality code, which has been field-proven in many real-life projects.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

I.D: Currently, our main product is MRTech IFF SDK.

We implement various machine vision projects and develop custom applications, most of which are based on our IFF SDK toolkit.

We also focus on post-implementation support of our projects and improving the SDK, consulting our clients and partners on how to make the best of our software and the deliverables provided.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

I.D: In my view, the machine vision market is currently at a relatively early stage in its development; we call it the mark-up stage. Besides, we operate in the upper segment of the market, which is quite narrow and is characterized by extremely high requirements for the performance of video systems in terms of camera resolution, FPS, and – in many cases – image quality. It is quite probable that this market segment is yet in its nascent stage, therefore significant growth should be expected.

Our customers depend on us to provide detailed information about their application in a fraction of a second as a differentiating factor and a competitive advantage. Given that, a particularly deep understanding of how video systems work at the base level is a must, as well as relevant experience and extensive expertise. We provide these advantages to our customers by delivering images to their applications in the most efficient way possible.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

I.D: According to marketing experts, the global machine vision market will expand at a compound annual growth rate of 7-8 percent from 2022 to 2030. The high-performance systems are expected to become the main driver of this growth, so our market segment can expand even faster.

In terms of technology trends, the growth can be attributed to the rising demand and increasing adoption of AI and 3D technologies, teleoperation and vision-guided robotics systems, quality inspection solutions used on the ground, in the air, and under the water.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

I.D: Today, the market is characterized by the emergence of new high-performance sensors and machine vision cameras, as well as by breakthrough development of compact embedded computers and new GPU architectures such as the NVIDIA Jetson computer modules and NVIDIA Ampere GPU Architecture.

For our company, the innovation lies in providing support and leverage of these new technologies, and we consistently follow this strategy in all our solutions and projects.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?

I.D: Despite the terrible events that are currently taking place in Europe and worldwide, we hope to achieve great success in 2023 and even make it a breakthrough year for our company. We have been researching and developing our new IFF SDK product for almost two years and can now offer our clients a mature solution with proven performance that enables rapid adoption of new technologies in sensors, cameras, computer hardware, and software.
