New Motion Labs is an UK and Germany based start-up dedicated to developing revolutionary designs for mechanical engineering, who brings these products to market alongside license and manufacturing partners.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

New Motion Labs: Cycling and e-bikes are key for us at the moment, but we are very interested in developing more tech for Automotive and Industrial applications

E.E: What’s the news for 2021 about new products?

New Motion Labs: Look out for the Enduo Sense – an innovative predictive maintenance system for cycle drivetrains.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

New Motion Labs: We have a number of products under the ‘Enduo’ line, including the Enduo Link Drive, Enduo Evolve Track (multiple iterations), Enduo Evolve Cargo (multiple iterations) and the Enduo Sense.

Enduo Link Drive – our first product, consisting of a revolutionary chain, chainring and sprocket design to increase lifetime, strength and efficiency throughout the entire drivetrain.

Enduo Evolve – a revolutionary sprocket and chainring design that works with conventional roller-chains to engage on both sides of the tooth securely, known as Dual Engagement. This drastically reduces the frictional losses over and above conventional drivetrains, increasing the overall efficiency and lifetime of the chain, chainrings, and cogs.

Enduo Evolve Track – the Evolve, refined and developed to suit the specific efficiency and speed needs of track cyclists, with multiple iterations for different rider needs

Enduo Evolve Cargo – the Evolve, refined and developed to suit the specific strength and lifetime needs of cargo e-bikers, with multiple iterations for different rider needs

Enduo Sense – currently unreleased, a predictive maintenance sensor system for drivetrains, more info to be released in the near future.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

New Motion Labs: Currently, we are predominantly active within the cycling and e-bike markets, particularly track cycling, due to our efficiency benefits which helps elite cyclists to win gold medals, and cargo e-bikes, thanks to our significant lifetime increases of 30-40%.

The track cycling mare we are looking to move into more Automotive and Industrial markets as this is where the real value and money is to be made, but also significant environmental savings. But these companies are notoriously difficult to reach and then eventually convince of the value of our tech!

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

New Motion Labs: E-bikes, and especially cargo e-bikes are becoming faster and more powerful, with a substantial increase in the motor power from 250w (current legal limit in most countries) to 1000w and above.

Delivery services and other companies like electricians are starting to use cargo e-bikes more and more to deliver goods faster, cleaner, cheaper and in a much more enjoyable way.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

New Motion Labs: There are new cargo e-bike solutions, such as the Revonte One transmission system for cargo e-bikes, that is a revolutionary new automatic transmission system.

The Urban Arrow Tender is a large cargo e-bike used by delivery fleets worldwide which we’ve heard great things about.

Wattshop and Velobike also have a great range of performance enhancing, premium products.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2021?

New Motion Labs: We expect cargo e-bikes to become increasingly popular following their widespread adoption by delivery services worldwide (particularly inner-cities) in recent years and also a change in the components, including the drivetrains that power them, requiring a need for stronger, longer-lasting drives due to the high motor power and wear rate.

We have tested our Enduo tech with derailleurs successfully, so expect to see a road cycling and/or MTB focused product by the end of the year, which cyclists will love.

Look out for more Industrial and Automotive focused tech in the months and years to come, as we start to develop more drivetrain and other solutions for these specific markets, helping them to save money and the planet simultaneously.
