INTERVIEW WITH NOVOTEGRA

novotegra GmbH is a company specialized in mounting systems for photovoltaic installations. The company manufactures their own mounting systems for flat roofs and for pitched roofs and distribute their products throughout Europe. novotegra is based in Tübingen, Germany and has been operating as an independent subsidiary of BayWa r.e. since the start of 2021. novotegra is looking back to more than 20 years of experience in the field of PV mounting systems.

All novotegra mounting systems are designed in Germany by specialized engineers. Their focus is always on reliable and long-lasting solutions that are easy and quick to mount at an attractive price level. For customers, the company offers an outstanding technical service as well as cost-free initial mounting service which supports the installers on the building site on the roofs.

For the planning of the PV installation, novotegra offers a free of charge planning tool called Solar-Planit. The tool automatically calculates the statics and guides customers throughout every planning step.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

NOVOTEGRA: novotegra offers “the perfect solution for every roof”. Our mounting systems are designed for flat roofs, tile roofs, trapezoidal metal roofs, corrugated and sandwich roofs, seamed metal roofs and bitumen roofs. In addition to our standardized solutions for PV mounting systems which are marketed all over Europe, we are developing solutions that are especially designed for local demands. Therefore, we closely cooperate with installers and join them on the roofs to get first-hand information about our customers’ needs.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

NOVOTEGRA: In October 2021, novotegra acquired PV Integ, a Swiss mounting systems manufacturer based in Switzerland. PV Integ specializes in the development and sale of mounting systems for green and gravel roofs. With these new additions to our product range, novotegra will now be able to serve a number of new potential applications, especially in the increasingly popular field of solar installations for green roofs. The acquisition also enables the use of innovative materials. PV Integ’s mounting systems are made almost entirely using recycled plastic and are produced exclusively within Europe in accordance with strict quality criteria. This underlines our company’s commitment to sustainability. The mounting systems have proven their capabilities in over ten years on the market, especially among Swiss customers. They offer quick and easy assembly combined with high standards of safety.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

NOVOTEGRA: We have products for multiple different standard roof types as well for some customized solutions, like facade systems. We also offer different products for each roof type, which can range between 2 to 6 different systems. A highlight product for pitched roofs is our insertion system which is simple to mount and very elegant at the same time. Precisely adjusted to the substructure of roofs of many kinds, customers will have a visually perfect PV installation thanks to the insertion system. The insertion rails are available in either blank aluminium or black to match the frame colour, and the thought-through technology ensures security and mounting efficiency.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

NOVOTEGRA: novotegra is selling mounting systems all over Europe. The markets in the individual countries are in different stages. In all countries we see a rising demand for PV plants on roof tops and we will do our best to support installers with our safe and easy to install mounting systems and technical service. It is our aim to further grow our market share in each country and contribute with our solutions to build even more PV plants in whole Europe throughout the next years.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

NOVOTEGRA: Many installers focus on mounting systems that are easy and fast to mount. Their aim is to work as quickly as possible and subsequently safe installation time on the roofs. We respond to this trend with the best possible pre-assembly of novotegra components so that the installer has less work on the construction site. On the other hand, the systems are continuously being optimized in terms of logistics. Accordingly, we offer a short rail option for our systems that can be placed on a pallet or even systems that can be sent completely packed in cardboard boxes, such as our short profile system for trapezoidal metal roofs.

Furthermore, we see increasing demand for PV plants on green roofs for which we will launch our new solution within the first quarter of 2022.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

NOVOTEGRA: One of our most innovative products is our solution for green roofs. This mounting system is made almost entirely using recycled plastic and is produced exclusively within Europe in accordance with strict quality criteria. This underlines our company’s commitment to sustainability. Furthermore, it offers quick and easy assembly combined with high standards of safety.

In 2022, novotegra will also launch a new mounting system for light elevation on trapezoidal roofs as well a new version of its solution for flat roofs.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2022?

NOVOTEGRA: For 2022, we expect further market growth and an increasing demand for PV mounting systems in many European countries. We expect that global supply chains might remain unstable in the first half of 2022. That is why, months ago, we started to order big quantities of material at our suppliers to be able to deliver our mounting systems to our customers. We are confident that our new products and solutions will meet the market’s needs and even more PV plants will be satisfactorily built with novotegra.
