PECOL AUTOMOTIVE, S.A. is integrated in the PECOL GROUP that, since its foundation in 1983, has been a reference in the fastening industry. By recently increasing the production site, Pecol Automotive provides a complete fastener production chain. From raw material annealing to sorting and packaging machines. The process optimization and investment in Research and Development (R&D) are key factors that sets Pecol Automotive as a major player in the automotive fastener industry. Developing 250 new products/year and with 2 production sites, internal training is mandatory to obtain more and more qualified human resources in a sector in which quality and service levels are increasingly demanding. To enlarge the product range, new machines and a second annealing furnace are arriving to accommodate the market share growth with the Spanish plant of the group.

PECOL AUTOMOTIVE: Pecol Automotive is specialized in the production of special fixing components by cold forming and we are strategically oriented to the automotive industry requirements.

E.E: What’s the news for 2021 about new products?

PECOL AUTOMOTIVE: PECOL Automotive is expert in cold forming manufacturing of special parts, that means we are able to produce different kind of joining systems according customer design or based in development by PECOL. In 2021, we have planned to produce ball studs directly by cold forming (no necessary to use machining) using HPL system. This kind of technology guarantee the tight tolerances and short roughness.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

PECOL AUTOMOTIVE: The portfolio of the company includes technical parts with tight tolerances achieved by cold forming with machining operations, sleeves with big dimensions, knurled parts, square nuts, ball studs, bolts until welding bolts. The company can produce parts from M3 to M33, and length up to 325 mm.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

PECOL AUTOMOTIVE: After COVID19 lockdown and OEM shutdowns, the market reacted very well in terms of production rate and every companies are growing in terms of sales. However, the COVID situation still unstable and the market are expectant relating the future.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

PECOL AUTOMOTIVE: We are present mainly in automotive industry and the uncertainty about the future of the cars (diesel vs electric problematic) still disturb the development of new models. However, we saw a lot of new models in ramp-up phase and also the facelift in short time, the technology evolution is faster and the car makers need to stay in first line of the evolution. From our side, we are looking for faster and stable processes to guarantee quality and reduce the costs. Finally, in our sector the study of new materials like Aluminum, high temperature stainless steel and Titanium will be the future challenges.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

PECOL AUTOMOTIVE: Well, due the electric cars development the market is searching for slight products and new materials like Aluminum and Titanium. The high temperature resistance in terms of material and coatings is also the market focus.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2021?

PECOL AUTOMOTIVE: After the COVID19 crisis in 2020, 2021 is the year to walk again in a growing path. Our expectations based in the current market forecast is to grow our business around 10% related to 2019.
