Interview with David De la Rosa, Sales and Marketing Manager at POINSA

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

David De la Rosa: Our main goal and aim are to provide broad coverage, both domestically and internationally, to the market for ceramic and polymeric electrical insulators. For this purpose, we offer our customers a high-quality standard product and personalized technical advice for the development of new customized items, providing a comprehensive solution tailored to cater each of our clients’ needs. All of this can be done thanks to a highly experienced human team, focused on innovation and technical development to bring the best value to customers’ requests.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

D.D.R: Despite all the damage caused by the Covid pandemic since 2020, and the present crisis in the sector due to the huge increase in costs of raw materials, gas, electricity and transport, POINSA keeps working on research and development innovation and to continue to be a competitive milestone for the sector.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

D.D.R: Post insulators up to 420kV, suspension insulators, bushings and wall-air bushings, in porcelain and silicone, which are used globally in transmission, distribution, substations, and railways applications.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

D.D.R: Lately we have been putting all our technological capacity and industrial creativity to develop a series of recyclable and safe products for the environment, aimed at preserving the birdlife and avoiding interruptions in supply, both in new and existing lines. The result of this is our AVIFAUNA product range, bird protection insulator, which is now being registered with some of our country’s top utilities, and will soon begin its international journey, so stay tuned for more news about our eco-friendly updates.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

D.D.R: There is an increasing demand for electricity and growing investments in transmission and distribution networks, as well as railways electrification.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

D.D.R: Our AVIFAUNA range as previously explained, and our railways insulators which we are working to expand. Environmental commitment is becoming increasingly important and reaching a <1% residual quartz content is now a must, as well as using top porcelain material such as C-130.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2022?

D.D.R: We are hoping to continue our growth by continuing to get our insulators type-registered by the world’s top utilities and railways companies, which will certainly help to continue our worldwide expansion with our product range around the world’s markets.
