INTERVIEW WITH POLYLUX

POLYLUX is a family-owned company founded in 1967 in Barcelona that specializes in the design and manufacture of a wide range of high-quality low voltage solutions for diverse industrial applications. The company has evolved to become an international benchmark manufacturer of transformers, autotransformers and reactors.

POLYLUX focuses on innovation, quality, and technology to make energy more affordable and secure. Their mission is to deliver efficient solutions to all customers, offering an extensive portfolio of standard products, custom built solutions made to specification, quick respond to requirements, short delivery times and technical support at every stage of the process.

Interview with Juan Pedro Velasco, Sales Manager at POLYLUX.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Juan Pedro Velasco: We offer an extended range of customized solutions for many different industries being Renewable Energy, Railway, Clinical, Marine & Offshore and Energy Quality our main areas of activity.

We invest in research and development of products and solutions based on safety, quality and efficiency to anticipate the needs of each sector.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

J.P.V: POLYLUX offers a wide range of quality low voltage solutions like transformers, autotransformers and reactors for general use and for the most demanding applications.

Furthermore, our innovative range of harmonic filters and compensators provide a unique and highly effective solution to harmonic problems in offices and industrial installations.

All our transformers have welded terminals, which provides greater reliability and connection stability. On the other hand, our immersion varnished finishes provide protection against corrosive environments, greater compaction, noise reduction and increased useful life and electrical insulation. POLYLUX specializes in potting resins, adding many technical advantages to its products.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

J.P.V: The market trend is clearly moving towards renewable energies causing an exponential increase of photovoltaic installations.

We have recently developed a new range of transformers and autotransformers for solar inverters that are designed to adapt the tensions generated by these installations to the working tensions required by the customers.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active? What can you tell us about market trends?

J.P.V: We could say that our market is experiencing growth. The growth is due to the global increase of electrification, mainly by industries that need stable electrical energy.  In addition, the fact that electricity is being used as a non-polluting source of energy makes the need to expand electricity grids a priority.

We are not just talking about consumption, but also about generation. Our equipment is necessary for solar inverters and wind turbines used for the generation of electricity in a clean way. Factors such as the stringent government policies to minimize power wastage, efficient long-distance power supply coupled with minimal line losses are supporting demand for the product.

We currently find ourselves in an energy transition where the transformers market growth is being driven to the renewable energy industry and we are preparing to meet the growing demand for energy while fighting climate change and global warming.
