PORTUGALIACORK was funded a little more than 20 years ago in Portugal, and the headquarters and manufacturing facilities continue to be all located in Portugal.

With the agreements with farmers, the company is able to source cork of the highest quality and contribute to the maintenance of the Mediterranean ecosystem and support local communities.

PORTUGALIACORK transforms this raw material into products that are used in industries ranging from the wine, construction, automotive and many other fields.

They export products to 80 countries worldwide and are continuously investing in research and development to create new and exciting products that add value to all clients’ businesses and lives.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

PORTUGALIACORK: The company has several areas of activity, all of them gravitate around a very fundamental element: CORK.

Everything we do has CORK in the center of our business and using this raw material we develop and manufacture products for several industries and clients.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

PORTUGALIACORK: All the technological advancements of the last 10/20 years combined with the social evolution allowed our company to push barriers of development and create products that in the past would not be possible.

Products such as mold injected cork pieces for house and office usage, as well as components for industries as advanced as automotive, technology, aircrafts and others.

Cork fabrics and cork leathers to be used in areas like fashion accessories, furniture upholstery and more recently even car interior design and upholstery.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

PORTUGALIACORK: Since our humble beginnings we had been expanding into several business areas and nowadays our company has an international presence in several fields.

One of the company main pillars of business is the production of bottling solutions of cork stoppers for wines, liquors, olive oil and other drinks.

Another important field for us is the construction and interior design, to which we offer products that range from cork insulation solutions, cork underlayment, cork wallpaper, decorative cork panels among other products and solutions.

Our cork fabric and cork leather division dedicate their efforts to develop cork fabrics and cork leathers for the fashion and accessories industries, furniture upholstery and even car interior design.

Our mold injection division had been working with several industries either creating house and office items as well as parts and components for several industries such as automotive, aircraft, technology, machinery and others. 

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

PORTUGALIACORK: Cork is an old and established industry, but the technological developments of the last 10/20 years combined with the current social factors and increase importance of the sustainability are opening a lot of new exciting arenas of business for the cork industry.

At PORTUGALIACORK we have no doubts we are at a stage where cork industry will continue pushing the barriers of the traditional arenas that had been in the last century and enter and grow in a lot of fields.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

PORTUGALIACORK: With an increase need for social conscience and sustainability in business, cork has a lot of potential to grow into more and new fields of business as replacement to less sustainable alternatives.

We think that cork applications will enter and/or grow across all types of industries in the next decades.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

PORTUGALIACORK: For PORTUGALIACORK in the last few years some innovations had been completely breakthroughs such as the cork mold injection production, or the cork leather as a replacement to the traditional animal and synthetic leathers.

Other advancements had been much more discrete but of extreme importance such as the innovations in manufacturing that allow PORTUGALIACORK to offer products with higher performance level in terms of cork insulation, underlayment and other construction solutions.

In the bottling field the development of new techniques and processes we had been able to improve products, quality and warranties substantially.

Some of these advancements may not be noticeable but they translate into very positive impacts not only for us but also to our clients and their clients.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?

PORTUGALIACORK: Looking back to how much has happened and changed and is still changing in the world, we have very positive expectations to 2023 for PORTUGALIACORK and want to continue making a positive impact in everything and everyone that is in connection with us.

Our company fundamental laws of innovation, flexibility and attention to detail had been and will continue being crucial in our growth as a company.

We are certain that 2023 will be another year walking in the direction of the future we envision for the company and everyone that is with us from clients, suppliers, employees, natural ecosystems around the Mediterranean and even competitors.
