RAMUS Industrie is a French valve manufacturer with more than 70 years of technical expertise. The company offers solutions for water and wastewater management: shut-off with knife gate valves, penstocks, regulation with upstream and downstream pressure regulators and protection with a complete range of pneumatic valves and safety valves.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
RAMUS: The story started in the 60’s with Laurent RAMUS who was a pioneer in pressure management. He created the first mechanical pressure regulator, highly reliable and maintenance-free.
Since then, RAMUS Industrie is well known on the water and wastewater markets. We produce gates installed on urban networks, but also, and we are very proud of this, large gates (2 000 m and more) on dams or nuclear installations. In fact, wherever there is water and pressure, flows to be regulated, we are present.
E.E: What ‘s the news about new products?
RAMUS: The RI-TAG label on every regulator. It’s a database available on RFI, the customer moves his smartphone over the label and he finds instructions and all the useful information. He has the choice to select the options he needs. It is clearly an important support for internal traceability and ease of maintenance.
E.E: What are the range of products?
RAMUS: Our product range is organized into 4 families:
Regulation range: downstream pressure regulator, upstream pressure regulator, adjustable fluid level, piloted flow control within single or multifunction device.
Protection range: strainers, air valves, pressure relief valves to protect the water network and water storage against air or overpressure.
Obturation range: knife gate valves, penstocks, butterfly valves, flap valves.
Customized range: storm basin, shutter disc, our Engineering dpt adapts or develops the products to customer requirements.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active
RAMUS: New regulations are coming in to allow everyone to have access to drinking water and to renew the pipes for correct installations. The water sector is developing and we are now present on the Latin American continent, while a new law on the management of water and sanitation services in has been enacted in Brazil.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends
RAMUS: Customers are looking to reliable goods. Operators have less and less time to spend on maintenance, which reduces the operations budget. Providing innovative, simple and reliable products reduces potential troubles and the plant downtime.
Working on the environment allows us to be in tune with ecological awareness. Our 100% French production limits our carbon impact.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed
RAMUS: Our EQUILAUR balanced valve is the most innovative product: one single motorized valve allows to regulate flow rate, pressure, water level and is fully tight where closed.
It can be used for ON/OFF valves on manual version at high pressure thanks to the balanced pressure on both sides.
E.E: What estimations do you have for the rest of 2022
RAMUS: We increased our production capacity last year by investing in additional production machinery. We can absorb production of standard goods and be present on important projects. The water sector is growing, we are growing with it!
