Interview with Elina Hakanen, PR & Communications Manager at Secto Design.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Elina Hakanen: The iconic Secto Design lighting collection includes various pendant lamps, floor lamps, table lamps, wall lamps and ceiling lamps that are suitable for both public and private interiors. Secto Design lamps are appreciated for their Scandinavian lighting design that suits a variety of different styles and interiors. They are exported to over 80 countries worldwide.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

E.H: The innovative novelty is the Secto corner lamp. Too often corners are the gloomy forgotten spaces in the otherwise thoughtfully designed interiors. The Secto corner lamp is here to overcome this challenge by illuminating the corners and transforming the entire interior into a serene entity. The Secto corner lamp is a perfect solution for narrow corridors, tight staircases, smaller bedrooms or for any other space that deserves to be fully brightened. Thanks to its design it fits perfectly in the corner and can also be seamlessly combined with the rest of the beloved collection. The Secto corner lamp comes in the heights of 45 and 60 cm and in four finishes. Design protection has been applied for it.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

E.H: The iconic Secto Design lighting collection consists of various pendant lamps, floor lamps, table lamps, wall lamps and ceiling lamps that are suitable for both public and private interiors.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

E.H: Our lamps are exported to over 80 countries worldwide. The situation depends on the market.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

E.H: Our lamps are used both in public and private interiors and shipped worldwide. We feel the public sector will most probably pick up now after the covid years, and the private sector calm down a bit as private clients might invest in other things than home decoration now that the world has opened up again. But time will tell!

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

E.H: Our latest and most innovative products are the Secto corner lamp described above but also the modular Kuulto ceiling lamp. The independent yet modular Kuulto ceiling light has been developed in accordance with customer demand: it is a versatile space saver that can be used both on the ceilings and on the walls. Kuulto works well on its own but thanks to its modular nature it can also be used for creating larger surfaces, rhythmic rows or other creative combinations. It has a high luminosity but turning Kuulto into a mood setter is easy by dimming it.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?

E.H: Interesting to see for instance where the world of trade fairs evolves, and the which other types of events will appear to the design market.
