INTERVIEW WITH SEDA

SEDA-Umwelttechnik GmbH has specialized in the development, manufacturing and sale of end-of-life vehicle (ELV) recycling equipment. Their equipment removes all fluids and hazardous materials as well as car parts from end-of-life vehicles in a safe, fast and efficient manner.

To protect the environment from hazardous fluids from end-of-life vehicles – a vision which SEDA has already successfully accomplished with their innovative solutions. Now the focus is on the optimization of the car recycling process. Security, speed and efficiency are the main focus. Especially in vehicle dismantling and material recovery there is still enormous potential for improvement which ultimately increases the profit.

Easy Engineering: What are the ranges of traded products?

SEDA: Our product portfolio contains the following categories:

  • De-Pollution

SEDA equipment and devices for the drainage of end-of-life vehicles lead the way worldwide. SEDA has revolutionised issues such as explosion protection, reliability, simple and safe handling. Integrating SEDA equipment in existing processes and expandable elements provide flexibility.

  • Dismantling

Too many recyclables are installed in automobiles that are not only valuable, but also can be used in the production of new cars. SEDA provides numerous dismantling tools and equipment.

  • Special Tools

Specialised devices as a CableCutter, a refrigerant recycling machine or a Shredder round out our comprehensive range for recycling facilities, workshops and rescue services.

  • Testing Equipment

Multi-functional testing systems and proven pressure testers form an integral part of the SEDA product range, and have been relied on for many years by many companies.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

SEDA: A worldwide network of trained importers (26) and with own subsidiaries in the Netherlands, the USA, Turkey, Japan and the UK. Thanks to this structure, SEDA can compare the various markets well with each other and thus also be present at the customer‘s site. Ensuring optimal response to local needs.

We are always looking to enter new countries/markets especially when the legislation is ready to get rid of old scrap cars.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

SEDA: If the announcements of the European car manufacturers are to be believed, half of all new cars will be e-vehicles by 2025 at the latest. This change of direction is politically supported and can no longer be stopped. At the end of the chain, the recycling industry must now find ways to ensure that electric cars are also optimally recycled. Since the number of end-of-life electric vehicles or electric accident vehicles is currently still very low, the interest in recycling solutions is still manageable. Nevertheless, the battle for a position in the industry has been going on for a long time, but many are still holding back.

SEDA can offer a various of e-car recycling equipment now incl. a complete E-CAR recycling station, safety container and solutions for the storage and transport of lithium-ion-batteries.

SEDA: SEDA offers innovative and leading products on the market that have been creating technical and environmental standards for years. The Austrian quality products comply with the current European end-of-life vehicle directive. When you choose SEDA products, you can rely on safety, quality and efficiency.

Right now, we are the leading company when it comes to E-Car recycling equipment.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2021?

SEDA: We assume that the global economy will recover from the corona crisis in the 2nd quarter of 2020. Correspondingly, the customer’s willingness to invest will increase. Nonetheless, increased environmental awareness and the electric vehicle boom will boost our business.
