SINOPTIX, established in Europe in 2006, specializes in crafting tailor-made optical components, ranging from lenses, prisms, windows, and filters to comprehensive opto-mechanical assemblies. Interview with Boris Boullot, CEO of SINOPTIX.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Boris Boullot: Our core competencies lie in delivering top-tier IR optics such as Germanium, Silicon, ZnSe, CaF2, as well as sapphire optics like lenses and windows. Additionally, our proficiency extends to plastic optics, encompassing TPX lenses and windows specifically designed for THz applications and cryogenic devices.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

B.B: Recent breakthroughs have seen us introducing cutting-edge products like germanium aspheres for IR cameras, X-cubes for display assemblies, V-groove prism/fiber assemblies, and Off-axis parabolic metal mirrors (OAP) vital for laser manufacturing processes.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

B.B: In terms of product diversity, we cover a vast spectrum—from micro-optics as minuscule as 0.3mm utilized in fiber optics to substantial optical mirrors boasting diameters up to 2.5m, catering to the needs of astronomy applications. Furthermore, our prowess in offering a range of optical materials—optical glasses, fused silica, sapphire, germanium, silicon, and optical plastics like TPX—fulfills varied optical and mechanical requisites.

E.E: What is the state of the market where you are currently active?

B.B: Navigating the competitive photonics market, our differentiation hinges on achieving superior quality. We acknowledge the pivotal role of mastering the entire supply chain and manufacturing process, emphasizing stringent quality control measures and impeccable packaging. Amid a landscape teeming with a plethora of product providers, the trend veers toward specialized manufacturers, reinforcing the importance of our niche expertise.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

B.B: Anticipating market trajectories, we foresee a trajectory toward intricate, highly specified optics. Moreover, heightened interest in Infrared and ultraviolet optics mirrors the surge in applications developed at these wavelengths, signaling a sustained trend in the future.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

B.B: As we are providing custom optics, it is more about our capabilities, we recently worked on very challenging projects including laminated prisms, micro engraving in sapphire and toroid lens with ITO coating with success enabling our customers to develop their new technologies.

E.E: What estimations do you have for the rest of 2023?

B.B: 2023 is almost to an end, but we are confident that the market will continue to grow in 2024, we already have an interesting dynamics in orders for next year. Photonics industry is still evolving and growing, pulling up our activity. Customers satisfaction is tremendous for our company as a happy customer is a returning customer.
