INTERVIEW WITH SONTEX

Sontex was born in 1989 in Sonceboz where is actually located and produce through a management buyout of the measurement and thermal quantity division of heat of the most important company Sonceboz (SA). The company has been offering for more than 30 years innovative solutions for the measurement of energy and water consumption to support the customers to save energy.

Interview with Emanuele Fiorini, General Director at Sontex.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Emanuele Fiorini: Sontex is constantly working to expand its existing product range. Openness and customer focus help us to adapt our solutions even more precisely to the needs of various markets. Sontex offers tailor-made solutions for our customers for several business areas like: Home automation, building automation, energy supply and system technology.  

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

E.F: In 2022 Sontex has launched a lot of new products:

Supercal 5: new calculator for heat meters (from DN15 to DN500) with standard integrated communication: Sontex Radio, M-bus and wireless M-bus. (extra module for LoRaWAN);

Superaqua: electronic radio integrated water meter;

878: heat cost allocator with LoRa communication;

Superlink C: AMR data collector (for 433 MHz and 868 MHz).

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

E.F: Our main products are heat meters, heat cost allocators, electronic water meters and data collectors for remote reading.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

E.F: It is a mature market after the big wave of 2016/17. Sontex is active with the replacement of old devices such as: heat cost allocators, water meters and heat meters

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

E.F: With the EED 2.0, the market is pushing for AMR reading. It means that the devices are connected with a data collector for remote reading. The tenants will have the opportunity to keep under control their consumption on a monthly base.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

E.F: Sontex is investing a lot in research and development. The future is LoRa (Long Range). We are ready to deliver our products with LoRa communication.

E.E: What estimations do you have for the rest of 2022?

E.F: 2022 will be the best year for Sontex Italia. We will double the revenue compared to 2018. Thanks to our customers and partners we are planning to grow every year.
