INTERVIEW WITH TATTILE

Tattile is a pioneering enterprise in the vision-tech industry with a clear international scope. In 1988 Tattile engineers successfully developed embedded License Plate Reader cameras and application software for the ITS & mobility markets; since then, Tattile has become a world leader in intelligent traffic monitoring systems.

Interview with Manuel Gamba, Business Developer at Tattile.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Manuel Gamba: Tattile works in a wide range of areas.

The main ones are:

  • Tolling (Axle counting, Stop & Go/ Free flow tolling, LEZ)
  • Vehicle Tracking (Homeland security, Parking, Access control, ANPR Mobile)
  • Enforcement (Red Light, Speed, LTZ, Parking enforcement)

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

M.G: Tattile new generation cameras are one of the most powerful cameras with embedded AI on the market. Neural network help increase the performances of our OCR and guarantee higher detection and accuracy.

Thanks to the new Stark software architecture, new cameras will be able to generate transit even for vehicles without plates, pursuing to increase the number of data our partner can have.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

M.G: Tattile offers ANPR solutions for traffic big data collection, tolling, enforcement, access control, security, and traffic management, including plate reading, vehicle identification & classification. In our range, there are three mains product families:

Smart Family: The high-range products, created to cover with outstanding performances all the requirements in free flow tolling, traffic monitoring and security. In the Traffic Light and the Speed version, the Smart family is the state of the art for enforcement applications.

Vega Family: The brand new Tattile products are equipped with the new Stark platform and neural engine.
The VEGA family has been created for applications in the tracking and security environment, with a modular and scalable architecture that can fit different requirements without unnecessary extra costs.

Basic Family: The Basic line offers a robust and high-performing ANPR smart camera system at the entry level of the Tattile product range. It is designed for license plate recognition during applications such as congestion charge and stop & go tolling, access control, urban road tracking, and access control to limited traffic areas.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

M.G: ANPR market is a mature market; this technology is a well-known technology. Therefore reliable performances, good after-sales support, and flexibility are the goals to continue the business with our partner.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

M.G: Along with ANPR recognition, AI is becoming more important because it enables the end user to receive complementary information about what happens on the road, like pollution, traffic, and weather information.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

M.G: Axle counter is the first Tattile product that uses video analysis to detect the number of the vehicle’s axles. This product will help our partner in tolling applications to increase vehicle classification.

E.E: What estimations do you have for the rest of 2022?

M.G: 2022 is almost close to the end, but for 2023 I’m expected to increase the turnover since bulging automatization, smart city and other innovative project are growing. Therefore, to support our partners, we expect the release of the new Tattile product that includes some AI features inside our cameras.
