Since 1986, the Tschorn GmbH in Urbach, Germany is specialised on manufacturing of high-class measuring and clamping equipment for the cutting industry. Innovations and product optimisations originate in the company. As an efficient family business with 13 employees, the company orientates concentratedly and flexibly at the current requirements of their customers who work e.g. in the machining industry, automobile industry or medical industry. Modern metal-cutting machines and accurate quality assurance on 3D-measuring machines in an air-conditioned test laboratory lead to high-class products „Made in Germany“, more explicitly to products made in Baden-Wuerttemberg.
Easy Engineering: What’s the news for 2020 about new products?
Tschorn: The new products are:
-Laser Pointer for workpiece positioning;
-Tool setter 4.1 with wireless connection for automating the machine centre;
-3D edge finder 4.1 with wireless connection for automating the machine centre.
-Workpiece stopper FlexiMag: With its built-in magnets the workpiece stopper gets fixed directly for example to a bench vice and applies for exact positioning of your workpiece. After clamping, it can simply be removed and releases the positioning surface for processing. The FlexiMag is also equipped with a flexible rotate and swivel mechanism and makes it possible to position in a wide variety of places.
E.E: What are the ranges of traded products?
Tschorn: We manufacture products for zero point determination, workpiece clamping, tool clamping and for tool measuring. No matter if in Taiwan, Italy or Germany, we sell our measuring and clamping tools all over the world to resellers and importers. For us, the specialist shops for tools are the most important sales partners in Germany, Europe and all over the world.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
Tschorn: We sell our products worldwide. That’s the reason why our market is at very different stages. The German and European market are partially further developed than for example markets like India and/or Asia. But we offer suitable products for all possible development levels and can therefore meet all market demands.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
Tschorn: The most important market trend within the last years is the automation of production processes. Industry 4.0. is the future, as it saves time and money.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
Tschorn: According to Industry 4.0, our newest and most innovative product is our product range called “TSCHORN 4.0”: It is a measuring system for machine automation.
The new TSCHORN 4.0 edge finder automatically finds the zero point of your workpiece. A sending module has been integrated into the tester which communicates with a receiver. You can place this receiver module e.g. directly at the machine console. Now you can see the built-in control lamps throughout the whole probing process. The control lamps at the tester and at the receiver inform about the status of the device, the radio control signal as well as the probing process.
The tester enables the machine to process the incoming probing signals directly in the machine control. This function is independent from the machine control manufacturer. This is why you can easily use it on diverse milling machines and machining centres.
With the TSCHORN 4.0 zero setter, it is also possible to automatically measure the tool length: The zero setter automatically communicates via radio control and acts as a sender. Via the receiver, the radio control signal is directly transferred to the CNC-control of the machine.
The optical zero setter with radio control is the perfect help for the operator of milling machines / machining centres. While setting-up the machine you can simply and automatically measure your tools. In series production, the zero setter can be used for checking tools, e.g. in tool breakage detection.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2020?
Tschorn: 2020 started extremely successful for us. But the Corona pandemic also affects us and our business. At the moment, it is hard to say how 2020 will develop economically. We very much hope to return to our success of the first quarter of 2020. We try to use these times as good as possible for research and development and hope for a successful comeback after the pandemic, especially with new products.
