Unicontrol is a fast-growing innovator in 3D machine control solutions for the construction industry. Established in 2019, Unicontrol has experienced exponential growth, opening company-owned and distributor operations in more than 26 countries, in Scandinavia, Central Europe, the Baltics, North America, and Australia since its inception.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
UNICONTROL: Unicontrol3D is developed to offer a user-friendly and straightforward 3D machine control system. The main activity for the company is to ensure simple products that enable operators to work more safely, efficiently and independently.
E.E: What’s the news about new products?
UNICONTROL: Our journey started when we launched Unicontrol3D Machine Control for excavators. Our easy-to-use system has evolved since to support wheel loaders, skid-steers, dozers, and backhoes together with UnicontrolCloud & UnicontrolRover. In the near future, many earthmovers will have semi-automatic capabilities making the work for the operator easier than ever.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
UNICONTROL: We deliver solutions for earthmovers such as excavators, wheel loaders, skid steers, and dozers. On top of that, we just added a rover to our product portfolio. All products are tested in close collaboration with the operators to ensure simple use and customer success. It takes 20 minutes to learn our system, and all products come with full support and onboarding.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
UNICONTROL: The markets are maturing, and our stakeholders are modernizing their business models as we see more traditional companies moving into 3D machine control and looking at new ways of optimizing their work output.
In general, the global machine control industry is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.2% from 2020 to 2027, reaching more than USD 10 billion.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
UNICONTROL: Machine control is a growing concept across the construction industry. Although the industry is known to be very traditional in deploying new technologies, we now see a massive surge in intelligent solutions for heavy machinery.
Among trending technologies in machine control right now is Semi-automation, offering partial or full automation of the boom, stick, tilt-buck, or tilt rotator, and payload management to display payload data for grade control on a single screen.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
UNICONTROL: The system architecture is made easy to use all the way through the value chain. Basically, there is a high degree of customization ensuring that the operator, machine owner, and/or foreman can enable different functions in the system (relating to their respective job functions) while working on the same project.
We call this our “Mass Customization” project, something that differentiates us from our competitors and helps to ensure that our technology can be useful to anyone who operates the machine, regardless of prior machine control experience.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?
UNICONTROL: We are looking into a busy pipeline for 2023 and entering new markets with great confidence. We plan to follow the same growth path as in the last few years and double our turnover while increasing our staff capacity by 15%, which will help us achieve new heights for our business.
From a product perspective, we constantly work to ensure the best customer experience and update our services.
