Interview with Birgit Klerkx-Schumacher, Marketing of Van Beek.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Birgit Klerkx-Schumacher: We are a global supplier of screw conveyor technology, particularly to the chemical, pharmaceutical, environmental and food industries.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

B.K.S: With the introduction of Sisca, an online configurator for screw conveyors, Van Beek once again demonstrates its ability to innovate. This unique customization tool enables Van Beek’s knowledge and expertise to be available 24/7. With Sisca, we offer customers in our sector an unrivalled opportunity to receive a customized quote, including delivery times, in near real time.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

B.K.S: We deliver screw conveyors, bulk truck loaders and screw heat exchangers for bulk goods such as powders and granules, in the broadest sense of the word. From tube, trough and shaftless conveyors to specialized applications such as live bottoms and gravimetric dosing.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

B.K.S: Our markets are ever developing. Screw conveying has been used for centuries in various applications. Currently, for instance, the increasing focus on recycling spurs new applications of screw transport. Van Beek has been involved in new markets ventures such as recycling of orange peels, 3D concrete printing and recycling of asphalt.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

B.K.S: We see circularity as an important trend both for us a manufacturer ourselves but also a growth opportunity. Van Beek has launched their refurbished program and buy-back program. Van Beek guarantees a buyback of all their machines that have become redundant for their owner. These machines will be refurbished (with 1 year warranty) and sold again.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

B.K.S: See point 3, Sisca. We also engineer and manufacture thermal screws that can heat and cool during transportation. Examples include cooling of 1050°C sand to 60°C and mixing food ingredients while heating to 90°C.

E.E: What estimations do you have for the rest of 2022?

B.K.S: We have appositive outlook on the future. Our R&D department is currently developing new applications and solutions that will help our customers in their transport and dosing needs. We hope to further develop Sisca to fully serve our customers 24-7 in their configuration needs.
