INTERVIEW WITH VENTUS GROUP

Headquartered in Austria, Ventus Group also has offices in Denmark, UK, Poland, Canada and India. The company offers end-to-end wind turbine optimization solutions within the type approval design envelope for wind turbine performance, deploying a multitude of patented innovative technologies. Its primary focus is wind turbine rotor efficiency, delivering aerodynamic, efficient and balanced rotors, the lack of which are the common cause for damaging increased loads and underperforming turbines. Ventus Group also using its extensive industry experience, data analysis capabilities, products and services of the Ventus Group captured measurements, to analyses data and compiles comprehensive reports identifying the most underperforming wind turbines and nailing down root cause for underperformance.

Interview with Martin Rath, Head of Sales and Business Development at Ventus Wind Services GmbH.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Martin Rath: The proposition for Ventus Group is primarily the development and ‘incubation’ of novel technology and services related to rotor monitoring, identifying underperformance and how to minimize operational risk in the global Wind sector.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

M.R: A game-changer for cross fleet analysis optimizing operation and maintenance of all existing and future wind turbines worldwide, Ventus Group has launched TripleCMAS – a revolutionary product that converts the rotor and swept area into a condition monitoring and alarm system for the wind turbine. Launched on a global scale simultaneously at Wind Energy Hamburg in Europe and at the Renewable Energy India Expo 2022, TripleCMAS offers a new way of improving asset health and performance management thanks to patented innovative technology.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

M.R: Nacelle based LiDAR services, Relative Dynamic Blade Pitch Angle Misalignment Measurement using high speed camera technology for this visual inspection service performed while the wind turbine is still in operation (DNV certified), Inspecting wind turbines using advanced Drone and camera technology, Taking Over & End Of Warranty inspections, SCADA Data Analysis, , Wind farm optimization and lifetime extension, TripleCMAS rotor monitoring and Alarm system.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

M.R: In general Ventus Group products and services are addressing all existing and future WTG’s – and as well known the renewable market globally is expanding very rapidly.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

M.R: Trends in the market is that owners and operators install parallel monitoring and alarm systems primarily due to WTG OEM’s do not provide access to all existing WTG data. Furthermore, TripleCMAS is a completely new technology converting the rotor and swept area into a new monitoring and alarm instrument for the WTG disclosing completely new info not available today from any other technology.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

M.R: For Ventus Group it is

  1. Relative Dynamic Blade Pitch Angle measurements;
  2. TripleCMAS;
  3. LEDS will be added to TripleCMAS in 2023.

E.E: What estimations do you have for the rest of 2022?

M.R: Ventus Group experience very good feedback from the market and several demo projects and roll out projects are ongoing and in planning. Furthermore, Ventus Group will make press release in very near future regarding collaboration as technology partner with very large global player.
