Mezzo Collection is part of the Private Label group, which also owns Aster, Fairytale, Gold Castle, Outline, and Pardo.
The Private Label Group has 5 years of existing and was built under a dream of two seekers, Bárbara Azevedo and Firmino Carvalho, who believe that every creative mind must get recognition for breaking patterns and standards, for being bold by daring to think differently.
Mezzo Collection is the response to an urge to create mid-century inspired furniture with a modern signature. Each piece of furniture represents a glorious travel through the 50s and 60s, by retrieving the vintage classics yet reinterpreted with a modern twist.
Mezzo Collection will stand the test of time, always looking back to the future to design new trends.
Interview with Amélia Gomes, PR Manager at Private Label.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Amélia Gomes: Mezzo Collection creates 100% made in Portugal furniture, and exports all over the world. Born in the heart of Portuguese craftsmanship – Paços de Ferreira, a place where all the best Portuguese furniture brands gather for producing, Mezzo Collection is the result of the passion for design and, above all, the need to glorify the art of craftsmanship.
E.E: What’s the news about new products?
A.G: Mezzo Collection is in continuous evolution and growth, always searching for new trends and designs for the products, always with the mid-century style presented at the core of the brand. Right now, we don’t have products for launch, but the last ones were presented at Isaloni Fair in April 2023.
The products presented there were the Wegner Bar Table, the Dallas Sofa, the Stuart Sideboard and the Marlon Dining Table.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
A.G: Mezzo Collection offers a wide range of products, from bedroom essentials to living and dining room products.
From beds and nightstands to furnishing accessories for the living area such as sofas, tables, center tables, sideboards, armchairs, bookcases, and all kinds of lighting.
Products for dining spaces, like dining tables and chairs, and pieces for bars, such as bar tables and chairs, and coffee tables, and a lot more types of products for your home or restaurant/hotel.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
A.G: The luxury furniture market is in a growth phase, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic, which brought disruption to all sectors and the stagnation of growth that was being seen before this phase of the world crisis.
At this moment, in 2023, we are seeing the advances of the market and the increase in the values of commercial transactions between markets.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
A.G: From our perspective, the furniture market will continue with the growth trend that we have seen throughout this year and will continue to innovate in product designs and always with a thought of sustainability in the production and use of more ecological materials.
Consumers will focus on a more conscious lifestyle, with an emphasis on sustainability. Being able to minimize the carbon footprint on the environment is a key element within the furniture industry. As consumers are becoming more educated on sustainability issues, they want to know how and where their products are produced.
Furniture customization will continue to be in high demand. As consumers look for brands that allow them to purchase customizable furniture, manufacturers will need to make this option available in an easy way.
The most used material in furniture continues to be wood, this because it continues the market trend and also because companies are entering a trend of more ecological thinking for the manufacture of products and wood and the best elements to follow this trend.
Taking all this into account, Mezzo Collection will follow these market trends and continue to improve its current practices in order to continue the company’s growth that has been seen since the beginning of the company.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
A.G: The Mezzo Collection offers all kinds of products for the living room, dining room, bedroom, bars and restaurants, and hotels, all with a mid-century design typical of the 50s and 60s.
We can consider all of our products as innovative, as they do not have the typical design of today, modern with straight lines and sober colors, and Mezzo Collection products are inspired by the mid-century with a touch of modernity.
Embracing the future while recalling a grand era is what Mezzo Collection intends to do. Those who purchase Mezzo products will embark on a modern journey through a bohemian style that still feels fresh and contemporary today.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?
A.G: This year 2023 comparatively with the previous year had a beginning positive with a good amount of value of transactions, and we expect that this growth will continue in the rest of this year and the years that will come.
We expect continued growth in the market, and the growth of the company. We will continue in the international market with the luxury furniture, and with the beginning with other projects in the sector.
