Interview with Melton White, Director of Mideco Jia Pty Ltd.

Easy Engineering: A brief description of the company and its activities.

Melton White: We provide advanced industrial dust collection solutions for a wide range of highly regulated industries. Central to our dedusting solutions is the innovative Bat® Booth, which relies solely on pure air to capture dust particles from contaminated clothing. This not only ensures the safety of workers but also contributes to environmental preservation. In addition to the Bat® Booth, we offer a range of cutting-edge dust collection solutions. Our state-of-the-art Economy Filters, Burnley® Baffles, and Scrubbing System shows our commitment to staying at the forefront of technology.

E.E: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

M.W: At the forefront of our mission is ensuring the well-being of workers by proactively addressing health challenges such as respiratory illnesses and heat stroke. We dedicate ourselves to providing comprehensive solutions that effectively manage dust in various settings. We specialize in dust control in hoppers used for truck, rail, or ship unloading, and port bulk material storage sheds, offering innovative approaches to mitigate dust-related hazards. We follow strict industry standards to design and implement systems that effectively safeguard our environment, particularly in locations where protection is of utmost importance.

Whether you are overseeing operations in a mine, quarry, cement processing site, industrial manufacturing plant, road grains dumping site, or factory, we offer solutions that grant you access to cleaner air and work clothes.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

M.W: The accumulation of dust within enclosures or site offices can pose a significant health risk, like the presence of respirable dust on clothing and outdoors. To address this concern, we have developed the Bat Vent, an exceptional industrial dust collector designed to ensure clean indoor air quality. The Bat Vent serves as a safeguard for workers who may not be directly exposed to the primary source of dust but regularly work in close proximity to it. Recent cases of silicosis among employees working in administrative buildings near quarries in Australia have indicated the importance of addressing such health risks. Regrettably, these cases occurred due to a lack of awareness about the potential hazards involved. By implementing the Bat Vent system, we aim to raise awareness and protect workers from harmful effects of dust, ensuring their well-being and promoting a safer working environment.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

M.W: We have a wide range of products for personnel protection, environment protection, and spare parts.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

M.W: The Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) market has been experiencing steady growth over the years, driven by several factors such as an increasing industrialization, stricter environmental regulations, and growing awareness of the health hazards associated with airborne dust particles. The market for dust collectors is influenced by different industries including mining, construction, pharmaceuticals, quarries, and many more, where dust control is a significant concern. As industries continue to focus on improving air quality, reducing emissions, and ensuring the well-being of workers, the demand for efficient and advanced dust collection systems is expected to rise.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

M.W: In recent years, the field of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) has experienced a substantial transformation, driven by emerging trends and technologies. This ongoing and rapid evolution continues to shape the industry, reflecting the dynamic nature of today’s business environment and to ensure the health and safety of employees in the workplace.

Some of the current trends in the market is that people have started to introduce and enforce stricter environmental regulations related to air quality and how it can be fatal, there is a great emphasis on worker health and safety across industries, sustainability has become a significant focus where companies are promoting eco-friendly systems that minimize environmental impact. There is also an increase in automation technologies allowing for remote monitoring and control of dust collection systems. We are developing and incorporating advanced filtration technologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of dust collection systems. This includes the use of high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters to capture fine and hazardous particles.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

M.W: For Mideco, it is undoubtedly the Bat® Booth and Bat Vent.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?

M.W: Mideco’s estimation for 2023 is to continue to trade strongly and grow as a business.
