mpo tec has been in the trade for several generations. A few years ago, they developed a spatula that shields electromagnetic radiation. In the course of this, the company came into contact with graphite and learned about its many technical properties. This led to the development of heated wallpaper.
mpo tec now produces and sells the heated wallpaper they have developed and install it for customers. However, many customers also install them themselves.
Interview with Hennes Röseler, Head of Research & Project Manager at mpo tec.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Hennes Röseler: We mainly carry out painting work and research. We are a small team and cover several areas of the company hand in hand, such as the production of heated wallpapers, the installation of these as well as advice and service. We are always on the lookout for new collaborations and enthusiasts who want to advance innovative heating technology. The focus is on establishing a sustainable heating system.
E.E: What’s the news about new products/services?
H.R: You could say that our heating wallpaper has reached status 2.0. We have adapted many details to make installation as quick and easy as possible. The adjustments to the product make it possible for almost anyone to wallpaper their own heating system. The adjustments are accompanied by greater stability and durability of the product.
E.E: What are the ranges of products/services?
H.R: We also carry out a large number of craftsman jobs. These include not only painting work, but also special solutions. However, our main focus is on providing energy advice for customer properties, planning insulation measures and fitting our heating wallpaper. Our sales are person-to-person and we are in the process of setting up an online store. In the future, we will also be more present with our website. In addition to our heating wallpaper, our products also include smart home devices that can be integrated into the heating system and special radiation-shielding solutions.
E.E: What is the state of the market where you are currently active?
H.R: The state of the market is very good. In Germany, there is a great deal of uncertainty regarding heating methods, as politicians have imposed strict restrictions. This is forcing people to look for alternative methods. We are also much cheaper than conventional heating methods and can install the wallpaper in almost any building. The technology is also subsidized by the state. It now just needs to be known by more people.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
H.R: Sooner or later, many people will realize that the heat pump that everyone is talking about is not the most optimal solution. Due to the skilled labor situation, buyers have to wait a very long time and spend a lot of money on installing the heat pump. This will increase interest in alternative heating methods and create new opportunities. Why make a huge effort when you can achieve the same goal with less money and work? People will also long for maintenance-free and easy-to-use systems – the heating wallpaper.
E.E: What are the most innovative products/services marketed?
H.R: The heated wallpaper is clearly our most innovative product and was not awarded the national prize for innovative ideas in the trade for nothing. Our most innovative service will be published with the launch of our new website. It will offer an impressive experience for many people who want to find out more about the heating method.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2024?
H.R: Following the completion of many private properties, we expect to equip our first major project with heating systems. It will be great proof that you shouldn’t shy away from new technologies. We are also pleased that the online store will be launched with a corresponding goods dispatch system.
