ROSTFREI-STAHL Geisweid (RFSG) is a traditional family-owned company that can look back on a history that extends over more than 50 years. Today, the company supplies plasma, water-jet and laser cut as well as sawn stainless-steel components to the entire European market.
Easy Engineering: Tell us about your company and what types of services do you offer?
ROSTFREI-STAHL: Our family run business is active in cutting sheets and plates in 14 different stainless-steel grades to custom designed shapes. Therefore, we use sheets and plates from 3 -150mm thickness up to a width of 3.000mm and length of 12.000mm.
Several plasma- laser- and waterjet cutting machines, as well as a plate saw, bring the plates into shapes that are convenient for our partners.
E.E: What are newest products in your range?
ROSTFREI-STAHL: We can say that we recently strengthen our activities in duplex and super duplex grades. We stock duplex up to 100mm thickness and have been able to strengthen our partners with supplies used in the oil and gas industry.
E.E: Which are the most innovative / trending products and what special features do they have?
ROSTFREI-STAHL: We have been laser cutting since 15 years with CO²-laser up to plate thicknesses of 12mm. Since beginning of this year we have installed a brand new Fiber-Laser. We cut all our profiles up to 20mm now on this new laser-machine. As we discovered that we achieve much better quality under more energy-efficiency we finally decided to buy a second machine which will replace our remaining two CO²-lasers in November this year.
E.E: How important are these features for the users in their work?
ROSTFREI-STAHL: The quality is remarkably good in comparison to the former results of the old lasers. The stunning thing is that the new machines are much more energy-efficient, we use less energy and gas as before.
This brings us into the position to go along with our customers on the way of reducing CO² in their products.
E.E: How do your new products / services differ from others on the market?
ROSTFREI-STAHL: It´s not really about the products, it´s more about communication and partnership. When we get involved into projects of our clients, we illustrate exactly what they can expect from us. This includes prices, quality, lead times as well as completely honest processing of the whole job.
E.E: Tell us about research and development in your company.
ROSTFREI-STAHL: We monitor the demands of our clients yearly on basis of a complete online-questionnaire. The clients can review our work in order to motivate us to get better in the future. But also requests on future products they want to buy from us is possible. This has for example led to an investment in a new bending machine in 2022.
E.E: What impact has product innovation on your customers?
ROSTFREI-STAHL: When we setup new machines for demands of our clients this brings them into the position to source their complete profile demand in one source. This saves time and costs for them and leads to a proper order planning in their production.
E.E: What new products / solutions are you going to launch in the future?
ROSTFREI-STAHL: For the time being we are evaluating more activity in regards of preparing welding edges on our profiles, but this is not finalized so far.
