Oresund DryDocks is the largest shipyard in Sweden and specializes in ship repair. The company is located in the middle of the Oresund strait in the south of Sweden, opposite to Copenhagen.

Interview with Anders Vidhav, Chief Commercial Officer of Oresund DryDock.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Anders Vidhav: Ship repair, maintenance, and conversions. We are also involved in a few development projects connected to the new IMO guidelines.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

A.V: We are involved in manufacturing the Oceanbird prototype, a very interesting project providing wings for a shipping revolution. This will have a huge impact on the future shipping industry and is one step closer to reaching a more climate friendly way of transporting goods across the oceans.

E.E: What is the state of the market where you are currently active?

A.V: We see an increase in the demand for efficient ship repair yards working 24/7, 365 days a year. We also see an increase in conversions and maintenance connected to fuel efficiency and other environmentally friendly solutions.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

A.V: The markets is growing and the need for flexible solutions and long-term relationships is very much sought after. We also see that the market for innovations within the climate smart area is growing rapidly. 

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

A.V: From us I would say, the Oceanbird project.

E.E: What estimations do you have for the rest of 2023?

A.V: A very high dock occupancy and high demand for efficient solutions.
