PREDISYS, EMPOWER QUALITY DATA BEYOND CONFORMITY

Predisys is a privately-owned software company founded in 1996. The organization has offices in Europe (Espoo, Finland) and the United States (Andover, MA).

The flagship product, the Predisys Analytical Suite™ and SPC for Manufacturing platform delivers a unique combination of real-time quality data analytics and Enterprise-Grade SPC in one solution, helping manufacturing, quality, and product engineering teams proactively identify and prevent quality issues.

The platform can be leveraged in both process and discrete manufacturing environments. It can be configured to various manufacturing processes using rapidly deployable, proprietary templates developed by Predisys and is available on the Microsoft Marketplace.

The Predisys Analytical Suite™ is currently being utilized by a host of manufacturers and their suppliers with the mission of helping them achieve Quality Beyond Conformity™.

Interview with Robert Fink, Executive Vice President, Americas at Predisys.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Robert Fink: Predisys delivers our solutions to a variety of industries including but not limited to:

  • Electronics
  • Semi-conductor
  • Medical Device / Med-Tech
  • Industrial Equipment
  • Automotive
  • Injection Molding
  • Precision Components
  • Regulated Manufacturing

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

R.F: Predisys is constantly working on product development from a variety of perspectives.  Since its inception, the organization has closely partnered with Microsoft and aligned its product offerings to best leverage the Microsoft suite of software products. Customer options include application integration with Microsoft 365, Teams, and Power Apps.

The team is currently working on activities aligned to broaden the distribution and accessibility of crucial quality data to even more stakeholders through mobile platforms and deepening our already existing predictive analytical models. We believe that SPC extends beyond just the shop floor and that understanding what will happen is equally important as understanding what has happened or what could happen.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

R.F: The Predisys Analytical Suite™ offers both Enterprise Grade SPC and Quality Data analytics. The application was purpose-built to provide real-time insights into all quality aspects throughout the manufacturing process and key insights to all quality stakeholders, from executives to engineers to frontline workers. The application leverages the Microsoft Azure cloud platform but utilizes the client’s existing Azure tenant from a deployment and delivery perspective. This deployment methodology ensures world-class security through the Microsoft framework and allows for rapid scalability and unequivocal data ownership.

This approach allows manufacturers to include and scale up their supplier network quickly. It becomes a matter of choice for the end customer, as the Predisys Analytical Suite™ can be deployed at a single factory, the customers’ entire manufacturing network, or through their whole supply chain.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

R.F: The market for SPC and quality data analytics is unique. There is a group of established providers, but the offerings vary greatly from a feature/function, deployment type, and pricing methodology perspective. Most providers specialize in a segment of a broader picture and offer just standard SPC or analytics. Predisys uniquely delivers both in one application. Further, some offerings are better suited from an SPC or analytics perspective in specific industries. For example, the tenants or principles of SPC are consistent; however, the configuration and metrics of importance change as the process or type of manufacturing changes, and some applications are incapable of supporting this change in need.

Predisys has intentionally built a platform that provides complete visibility to all aspects of how quality is built into manufacturing and is active in both the discrete and process manufacturing sectors, resulting in increased product yield and higher throughput with fewer defects.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

R.F: We are seeing two common themes develop in the market. First, there is a large degree of interest in artificial intelligence and advanced analytics. AI is top of mind for a litany of organizations. This interest sometimes outpaces the organization’s readiness for this technology, but organizations are positioning themselves to be ready to leverage it. Frequently, it is the foundational data layer that is prohibitive or restrictive from a readiness standpoint. Because of the interest and potential of AI, we have built a data normalization process into our approach to agnostic data collection. By connecting directly to test instrumentation, receiving and processing data files, allowing for manual data entry, and then normalizing the data, we position our customers to leverage more advanced forms of analysis and query, such as augmented intelligence, generative AI, and advanced analytics.

Artificial intelligence involves machines independently making and executing decisions. In contrast, augmented intelligence utilizes contextualized information to assist humans in making informed decisions and allows them to decide whether to implement those decisions.

Though AI is rapidly advancing and a single solution for many industries, the human element can never truly be eliminated within manufacturing. Predisys will continue to refine the application’s augmented and artificial intelligence components to leverage each technology’s strengths best while maximizing the client’s benefit.

Second, users are demanding quality data analytics data in real-time, distributed through modern means such as users’ cell phones. Customers want immediate access to data and want to interface with it on the devices they use daily. Real-time, ubiquitous access has consistently been a part of our development philosophy, but we are constantly working to further our ability in this space.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

R.F: Our flagship application, the Predisys Analytical Suite ™ is our most innovative product.  We have spent decades building a tool we feel is entirely unique in the market.  By allowing for the capture of process and product data in real-time, offering a wholly agnostic and universal approach to data collection, and normalizing data on the fly, we allow our customers immediate access to analytical data and the performance of root cause analysis.  The inclusion of predictive modeling and digital twin-like capabilities allows our customers to better prevent future quality issues from occurring as well through a proactive approach.

E.E: What estimations do you have for the rest of 2023?

R.F: The organization is in the process of onboarding several new customers, and is working on several new product enhancements that have been the direct result of our learnings over the decades of our experience.  We plan on expanding our voice of the customer process so that we ensure we both continue to deliver not only an exceptional product but world-class service as well.  Additionally, it is often customer feedback that provides the most transparent roadmap to product development.
