Marc Link & Carole Arnaud-Battandier: STI expertise is 100% in-house: A team of certified instructors, the best training software on the market with real image quality, an experienced IT Research & Development team, and our own screening employees at regional airports and cargo screening stations in Germany.
E.E: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
M.L & C.A.B: STI activity is a niche area: Security trainings.
Being for industrial, transport and supply chain, or aviation security, our instructors provide the relevant trainings, compliant to the relevant regulations. Since 2006, STI has been offering online training in addition to traditional classroom training. During this time more than 165,000 graduates have successfully carried out online training courses.
Flexibility, everywhere, whenever: In comparison to classroom training, online training has the advantage that it can be carried out anywhere and anytime. In addition, the user can determine his own pace of learning and adapt the learning process to his individual possibilities, which has a positive effect on the learning success.
STI also provide X-ray image interpretation trainings. It means that everywhere there is an X-ray machine, there is a need to train the screener, so she/he is capable of detecting threats or prohibited items in a bag, in a definite time.
We know that situation at airports with their security checks. Such checks are more and more present in numerous industries, and even civil areas, such as when sport and cultural events.
We have different training solutions to reflect the needs from the relevant industries: For cabin baggage, hold baggage, air cargo, supplies, customs, personal and access control.
E.E: What’s the news about new products/services?
M.L & C.A.B: As you know, technology moves fast. And STI training solutions adapt. STI adapts to the new regulations, and to new technology.
In the security X-ray business, images were shown on 1D. Now images are shown in 2D, as well as 3D CT scan technology. Now baggage is shown from upper view and side view, and the screener can even rotate it around a 360 degree´ angle for the 3D CT technology.
Image quality is key. STI image quality is the best on the market.
From a general educational setup, we move towards a customizable and adaptive system to best answer the unique requirements of each client.
Few examples below:
An updated QoL (Quality of Life) with the translation of our products´ content. The customer makes the desired changes and imports the new content.
Easy search in STI OTS-Content library: With this function, users can search images based on a name search, and filter by difficulty in the image collections.
Optimized security: The new function of brute force automatically recognizes and blocks repeated and abusive attempts to access user accounts.
E.E: What is the state of the market where you are currently active?
M.L & C.A.B: Security is paramount, and security requests in the aviation, industrial and civil areas are increasing.
X-ray machine manufacturers are developing the technology with AI, to detect threats and prohibited items in a swift and efficient manner. It is a useful support. However, STI believes that the human eye is paramount and needs to be trained accordingly.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
M.L & C.A.B: The increase of technology is positive. For example, in airports´ security checks having the last generation of X-ray machines, passengers only need to take out their computer and tablets; all other liquids, small objects or mobile phones can remain in the cabin baggage. That makes the passenger experience more enjoyable, the check quicker, and the punctuality rate of the airport better.
