Interview with Davide Barotti, Sales & Marketing Manager at Urbinati Srl.
Easy Engineering: What’s the news about new products?
Davide Barotti: The novelties of Urbinati products concern various sectors: we can certainly count among the improvements made, the remote connection and fast teleassistance of our seeding lines, and machines equipped with PLC. We have also developed a remote-control and production management system for our irrigation booms that can be managed from smartphones or tablets. Moreover, Urbinati has implemented the study of the forestry seeding lines: they are designed according to customers’ needs and based on the tree seeds variety. Over the years, thanks to the collaboration with relevant forestry nurseries, Urbinati has designed lines to sowing and transplanting of conifers (pine, fir, spruce), oak, eucalyptus, beech and maple, with cutting edge and completely tailor-made solutions.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
D.B: Urbinati has a broad product range: seeding, filling, transplanting, labelling, denesting, handling, dibbling, washing, depopping, trimming, irrigation and germination.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
D.B: The market in which we are active, is certainly ready to welcome our automated and remote-controlled solutions.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
D.B: The market trends concern the lack of manpower and this trend is leading to a continuous increase in costs: Growers is thus more determined to take the path of automation.
Therefore, the mature markets require more advanced automation systems, while the emerging markets require an update towards the conversion to automation of production processes. In fact, automated production allows the final product to be healthier and to give a higher yield, plus it keeps production costs lower.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
D.B: Among the most innovative products there are our irrigation booms that allow to be fitted on greenhouses’ length up to 250 meters with just one system.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?
D.B: Surely 2023 is characterized by an increase in the cost of raw materials and the instability of energy costs. These dynamics keep existing projects on standby. Anyway, 2023 is aligned with 2022, considering that 2022 has been an important year. Projects are real and investors are just waiting the right moment to sign a deal. Urbinati is ready to support every Growers on side of their path.
