Viso Systems’ mission revolves around empowering luminaire manufacturers with robust yet user-friendly light measurement solutions. Their clientele comprises producers of professional lighting equipment, catering to diverse settings such as streets and office spaces, who require comprehensive product characterization. The data sheets of the clients’ products necessitate intricate details encompassing energy consumption, light quantity, quality parameters, and light distribution.
Handling these light distributions in 3D formats is crucial, enabling lighting design engineers to simulate and analyze lighting distributions and energy usage within 3D design programs. This is precisely where Viso steps in: equipped with advanced laboratory instruments, helping clients to characterize light sources and verify compliance with established standards and regulations.
By doing so, Viso’s clients can amass extensive datasets in-house, foregoing the need to rely on external lab service providers for testing. This strategic approach not only enhances efficiency but also expedites the process. Our market-leading software solution further accelerates measurements, providing swift and comprehensive results.
Founded in 2006, Viso Systems has undergone remarkable growth and development over the past 17 years. Today, we proudly stand as a thriving mid-sized company, home to a team of highly skilled and experienced professionals within the lighting industry. Our clientele spans the globe, reaching virtually every corner except Antarctica.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Viso Systems: Situated in Copenhagen, Denmark, Viso specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of OEM- and customer-specific goniospectrometer solutions. Our dedication is centered around equipping the lighting market with state-of-the-art light measurement and control technology, celebrated for its outstanding quality and precision. We are committed to simplify the complexity of measurement and control systems by delivering user-friendly and intuitive interfaces. Our product range encompasses distinctive technologies, including fully automated real-time color correction functionality, positioning us at the vanguard of intelligent, seamlessly integrated control and measurement solutions.
E.E: What’s the news about new products?
Viso Systems: During the last couple of years, Viso has added several accessories that together with the three main system sizes make up complete turn-key solutions. All parts work seamless together. The latest accessories are a couple of power feed and analysis products:
LabPower – LabPower is a combined Viso 250 W AC power supply and power analyzer that is fully integrated in the Viso software solutions. It provides a stable mains feed to the light source and removes all mains voltage fluctuations.
LabAnalyzer – Viso LabAnalyzer is an advanced AC and DC power analyzer that complies with light measurements standards (IES LM-79 and CIE S 025) and integrates with Viso light measurement solutions just like LabPower. This product also enables measurement of strobe lights.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
Viso Systems: Viso Systems’ light measurement solutions come in three sizes, hence adapting to the physical sizes of the client’s light sources: The portable LightSpion product (light sources up to 8 cm in diameter), the mid-size BaseSpion (light sources up to 54 cm in diameter), and the full size LabSpion (light sources up to 2 m in diameter).
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
Viso Systems: The market is gradually rebounding from the pandemic’s impact. Viso Systems’ performance is closely tied to the financial health of its clients, which is significantly influenced by the building industry. Given the favorable state of the construction sector in many regions, Viso Systems holds an optimistic perspective for the times ahead.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
Viso Systems: The LED revolution continues to gather momentum. Moreover, in numerous developing nations, awareness about LEDs as highly energy-efficient light sources is on the rise. This surge in awareness has resulted in a substantial demand and emphasizes the need for robust testing and effective market regulation of imported LED products. From a holistic viewpoint, LED solutions have made lighting products increasingly complex, thereby elevating the potential risk of compromising quality in pursuit of energy efficiency. This situation underscores the necessity for heightened market standards in testing, rendering it more pertinent for Viso’s clients to possess their own testing systems.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
Viso Systems: Our most significant product is its software, designed to facilitate effortless and secure measurements, manageable even by operators with a standard technical background.
On the hardware front, the company’s foundation rests upon systems employing spectrometer sensors, a significant advancement over traditional photometers. This innovation allows the system to comprehensively measure all light distributions and quality metrics in a single step, a departure from the typical two-step process employed by most competitors. Moreover, Viso’s pioneering technology ensures swift measurements, despite the spectrometers’ relatively lower sensitivity compared to photometers.
In the realm of accessories, Viso has expanded its range to include UV and Near Infrared spectrometers, which also offer distinctive 3D light distribution measurement capabilities. Another exceptional solution is the LabAnalyzer, a pioneering tool enabling the measurement of strobe lights while they are actively strobing—a groundbreaking development in the field.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?
Viso Systems: Viso Systems expect 2023 to be the best year so far with stable expansion in the US and Asia.
