Wind Technik Nord was founded in 1986. Their main business is development, production and sale of wind energy converters in the range of 200 up to 600 kW, as well as license giving of their own products. Besides that, the company offers accessories, like the climbing support as well as assemblies, services and training.
Interview with Dieter Guschewski, CFO of Wind Technik Nord.
Easy Engineering: A brief description of the company and its activities.
Dieter Guschewski: In Enge-Sande in Nordfriesland, not far from the Danish border, the head office of Wind Technik Nord is situated. We are a medium sized company with high motivated, dedicated and competent engineers and technicians. Besides the building of an antique wind mill, there are on an area of about 1500 m² modern offices and workshops for the electrical and mechanical production as well as an advanced assembly hall as production shop for our wind turbines.
E.E: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
D.G: Since 2010 we were very busy in the UK installing mid-sized turbines. With the beginning of the 2020ties the market for our size of Wind Turbines came back to Germany, especially for large consumers, but we have contacts all over the world wherever clean energy is needed.
E.E: What’s the news about new products/services?
D.G: Our latest model is the WTN 250i that fulfills the strict grid regulations in Germany. But this Turbine is also built to handle island grids or (battery) storage devices.
E.E: What are the ranges of products/services?
D.G: Beside our Wind Turbines of 200 and 600 kW we produce Wind Pumps. These water pumps convince through simple construction, low costs and longevity together with low maintenance. Today they are still part of our delivery program.
Additional to the development of wind turbines beneficially equipment is an emphasis of our activity. Due to the fact of bigger turbines and higher towers for the technicians, the ascent becomes more and more burdensome. With the Climbing Support LW 50 developed by us, the physical strain becomes minimized considerably and it is no problem of climbing up several times. Also, tools and small spare parts can be taken up with the LW 50. Naturally, VDE and the workmen’s compensation board, which recommended this useful helper too, certified this climbing aid. This can be offered as an after sales option and it is very cost effective.
Of course, we do not only produce these goods, we do also the assembling and commission our products. For the operational period we offer different levels of service and maintenance incl. monitoring of the machines.
E.E: What is the state of the market where you are currently active?
D.G: More and more companies have to become carbon free. That is the point where we can help. Mostly PV is already on the roof but this is not enough. Due to high energy prices in Germany the alternative is a Wind Turbine from Wind Technik Nord GmbH. Even in Belgium and the Netherlands the demand is growing for own generated energy.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
D.G: As already above mentioned the target is to fulfill the Paris agreement. A Wind Turbine can generate energy around the clock as far as the wind is blowing. A combination between a PV unit and a Wind Turbine is easy to create and very useful to cover the whole energy consumption. In combination with a heating or storage device it will become an optimum solution.
E.E: What are the most innovative products/services marketed?
D.G: Our Top seller is the WTN 250 with or without inverter all over the world. It is a very solid and reliable turbine also for remote areas with adverse weather conditions. Come and make your own experience.

D.G: We look very optimistic into the future. In Germany we are only at the beginning to erect Turbines for very different companies to satisfy their demand on energy.
