Harrachov Glassworks, the oldest operating glassworks in Czechia, was founded before 1712. The company is renowned for their traditional and exceptional craftsmanship in hand-blowing, coloring, and cutting glass. Harrachov Glassworks produces luxury hand-blown drinkware and decorations. Their glassworks also attract numerous tourists with their unique museum, brewery, and beer spa.

Interview with Petr Novosad, owner of Harrachov Glassworks.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Petr Novosad: We specialize in the custom production of luxury, hand-blown, and decorated glassware. Our extensive range includes exquisite drinkware, vases, candle holders, and a variety of other decorative items. Each piece is carefully crafted using time-honored, classic techniques that have been perfected over centuries. Our artisans bring a unique flair to their craft, employing specialized cutting techniques to achieve unparalleled precision and beauty in every creation. The fusion of traditional craftsmanship with innovative methods ensures that each item is not only a work of art but also a testament to the enduring legacy of fine glassmaking.

E.E: What’s the news about new products/services?

P.N: We have introduced 10 new collections that were created in collaboration with the designer studio LLEV. These collections were introduced at the Ambiente fair in Frankfurt this January. Additionally, we are planning to release several more collections later on this year.

E.E: What are the ranges of products/services?

P.N: Our product range includes:

E.E: What is the state of the market where you are currently active?

P.N: The company has historically focused on custom production for over 35 countries across the whole world, with the leading market in the United States, Italy and Scandinavia. 

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

P.N: There is a growing interest in unique, handcrafted products with a rich heritage and high quality. Consumers are increasingly valuing the craftsmanship and history behind products, which aligns well with Harrachov Glassworks’ strengths. The demand for luxury and customized drinkware remains strong, particularly in markets like Italy and the United States.

E.E: What are the most innovative products/services marketed?

P.N: The most innovative products include:

  • The Visual set with optical effects.
  • The Ufo and Barman sets, showcasing bold design.
  • The Twilight set, known for its distinctive black stem.
  • The Airtwist set, using ancient Venetian techniques.
  • The Wine Tie glass with a knotted stem 

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2024?

P.N: For 2024, Harrachov Glassworks aims to introduce several new collections of glassware through the collaboration with Studio LLEV. The new collections are expected to enhance brand recognition and boost sales. The company anticipates increased interest in its unique, handcrafted drinkware and plans to continue innovating while preserving its rich heritage.
