Easy Engineering: What’s the news for 2021 about new products?
DAN DRYER: At the beginning of 2021 our new LOKI product line was launched. With the LOKI line, our vision was to create a beautiful and functional design, which creates harmony when LOKI products are displayed side by side. The elegant design is characterized by a robust rectangular front plate with free edges adding a distinctive floating look.
With only a few months on the market LOKI has already scored a hat-trick when being awarded with a RED DOT DESIGN AWARD 2021 – product design, an iF DESIGN AWARD 2021, product discipline and a GERMAN DESIGN AWARD 2021.
The product line consists of a wide selection of automatic and manual dispensers for soap and hand disinfectant. Besides hand dryers and soap/sanitising dispensers, the LOKI family includes a waste bin, two different toilet paper dispensers and a paper towel dispenser.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
DAN DRYER: Besides supplying complete hygiene solutions for public and commercial washrooms we also supply a wide range of products for the railway industry.
For equipment like hand dryers to be approved for installation in rolling stock, norms and standards to comply with are comprehensive.
In addition to build-in hand dryers, we also develop and deliver recirculation heaters for installation in rolling stock passenger areas as well as customized baby changing stations, compliant to TSI-PRM requirements.
Having an extensive knowledge of the many complex standards and requirements for rolling stock we are a strong partner in this market as well.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
DAN DRYER: We are experiencing a growing interest in the Scandinavian design which we have embodied into our products. The style is characterized by clean lines and shapes that harmonize with the surrounding architectural elements. Based on the Danish design heritage, which is known worldwide, we try to continue the tradition in our products. This is done in collaboration with an external Danish design company.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
DAN DRYER: 1. In relation to the Covid-19 situation, we see a clear trend with a very large focus on hand hygiene. The market for disinfection products has expanded during the pandemic. We do expect a small decline in demand as the situation normalizes. But we believe the demand for these types of products are here to stay. There is no doubt that the increased focus on especially hand hygiene has spawned a giveaway effect on virus spread in general. We are convinced that the trend will continue, even when society returns to normal.
2. DAN DRYER produces high-end products, with a strong focus on design and layout. A tradition that has led to many international awards and accolades. We are proud and happy with this development, and we certainly expect much greater activity in this field in the future.
3. The demand for products for the train industry is increasing. DAN DRYER has gained great expertise in this area during the last decades. Our core competence is custom-made hand dryer solutions, produced according to customers specific requirements and wishes.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
DAN DRYER: As mentioned, we have just induced our latest product line called LOKI.
From the beginning, there has been a great focus on finding the right solution to mechanical challenges, without, however, compromising on the well-known DAN DRYER quality. Simple but still durable and functional measures. We have used relatively many resources in the construction phase and our engineering department has put a lot of effort into the development.
We are very satisfied with the result and the series has been well received.
When it comes to built-in hand dryers for the train industry, most customers want the possibility to monitor and read data. This enables them to quickly identify and repair defective units and it’s also important in terms of general safety on the train. At the moment we are in the process of implementing initiatives that will meet these requirements and wishes.
