INTERVIEW WITH DENN

DENN is a family owned company making machinery for the Rotational Deformation of metals: Metal Spinning, Flow forming, Shear forming, etc. The company was established in 1885, Sells worldwide, and its activities start from the design to the manufacture, and aftersales. The personnel of DENN have a high degree of education, necessary to support the R+D activities that are in the core of our culture.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

DENN: The machinery made by DENN can be applied to a vast range of fields: automotive, aerospace, defense, kitchenware, oil & gas, etc. Rotational parts up to 4 meters of diameter, in different types of materials, including aluminium alloys, stainless steel, titanium, etc., can be made using the technology, which eliminates waste.

E.E: What’s the news for 2021 about new products?

DENN: Our company is investing heavily in the improvement of the applications of Industry 4.0 in the range of DENN products. Machine learning, assure production repeatability, improving the quality control processes, and combination of equipment in order to make automatic production cells are the targets of our R&D department.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

DENN: Metal Spinning lathes, Flow forming machines, Shear forming machines, Trimming, beading and flanging machines, Rotary forges, Wheel Rim flow forming machines, Pulley forming machines, Neckin’in machines for pressure vessels.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

DENN: The pandemic has caused a steep decrease in the investment in capital goods. As the vaccination is rolling on, seems that the market recovers slowly from the stoppage.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

DENN: The use of most advanced – and expensive – materials is pushing towards technologies that allow for less waste; so rotational deformation is a very good alternative to mechanization and milling, also for the combination of bending + welding processes that at the end require also for mechanization. Metal spinning and flow forming are reducing cycle times and required steps in order to get parts with strict tolerances. Industries like automotive, with demanding cycle times, and aerospace, with tough quality specifications, are ideal to apply the technology in which we are experts.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

DENN: The introduction of machine intelligence in our portfolio is what is giving nowadays to our customers their competitive advantage. The best CAD CAM programming solution in the market, made by DENN, allows clients to dramatically decrease new parts manufacture in all the phases, from design of the program, to final quality control decisions.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2021?

DENN: Year 2021 will see industry stabilization, while we expect next year 2022 to be the recovery year for the industry.
