INTERVIEW WITH NORSK SVEISETEKNIKK AS

NST (Norsk Sveiseteknikk AS) was established in 1991 and is today one of very few Norwegian-owned companies in the welding supply business. NST now represents Nippon Steel Welding & Engineering (NSWE) in four world regions (Europe, North America, Middle-East and Asia), and is continuously expanding its business worldwide. With over 30 years of experience, NST can offer very good technical and practical support, with safe deliveries from our large warehouse facilities.

The slogan is ”Perfect Welding”, and with perhaps the highest quality products available in the market today, NST is ready to back this up.

Interview with Alban Geurten, Welding Engineer/Technical Support & Sales, IIW-IIS IWE, AWS CWI at NST.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Alban Geurten: Our customers are most often active in the offshore industry and shipyards, in both domestic and foreign markets.

E.E: What’s the news for 2021 about new products?

A.G: We keep on discussing with our customers to improve current products or develop new ones. Currently, we just launched a new seamless flux cored wire for high strength steels (intermediate level), between 500 (SF-50A) and 690MPa (SF-80A) grades. It is the SF-65A wire.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

A.G: NST product range has been expanded over time to meet the growing demands from our customers.  We can now offer a complete line-up of welding consumables, including the premium NSWE seamless flux cored welding wires for steel structures, which can meet the highest requirements in the industry. We have also welding consumables for higher-alloyed materials and we also supply ceramic backings to the shipbuilding industry, to maximize their efficiency with one side welding.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

A.G: We sell to 26 countries in Europe, Asia and America.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

A.G: Today, we can clearly see that there is an ever-increasing demand for the off-shore wind-mill industry worldwide.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

A.G: Our core products are our seamless wires, with very low hydrogen level, and very long shelf life due to its exclusive manufacturing route.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2021?

A.G: For 2021, we forecast that our customers will catch up with the delays they have accumulated during the COVID pandemic. That is why we have increased our stock worldwide to be ready and fulfil our requirements.
