HER Lighting is a lighting manufacturer and lighting design company based in Barcelona. Since the 2009, their catalog has seen countless changes and constant innovation leading up to the holistic range of products they offer today. Today, the catalog includes everything from track solutions, LED strips and profiles, to downlights, pendants and even bedside lamps.
HER Lighting’s daily focus is to produce products of the highest quality and design for customers around the world, but they also have in-house project department working on both domestic and international projects. R&D and product innovation is naturally a big part of the company’s daily business as well, in a largely homogenous business they work hard to stand out and create unique products.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
HER Lighting: Our company could be divided into three main categories:
- Production which includes manufacturing, assembly and painting.
- Sales which include domestic sales and our project department, export, logistics and customer service.
- R&D and the process of bringing new products to the market, where we take designs and ideas and bring them to life.
E.E: What’s the news about new products?
HER Lighting: We’re currently in the phase of re-organizing our catalog and introducing many new products and enlarging our existing range of products. Our development with different optical solutions is currently a big focus, where we experiment with lenses to control the light emission. The goal is to be able to customize a single fixture to deliver the required effect through the optics. For example, a fixture could have clearly defined illumination areas for museums or displays, keep glare to an absolute minimum and offer a variety of spatial distributions.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
HER Lighting: We currently offer a diverse range of products. Some highlights are our tracksystems, including a holistic range of 42v, 48v and three-phase compatible fixtures, Made in Spain ranges of recessed, semi-recessed and surface projectors alongside with multiple light point fixtures and pendants. Another part of our catalogue is our LED strips and profiles which cover a vast variety of purposes with multiple power and ingress protection ratings. We also offer structural and industrial fixtures for projects that require higher levels of lumen and detailed lighting. Exterior lighting is also a big department for us, and we possess a vast collection of varied and unique outdoor lighting fixtures.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
HER Lighting: The lighting industry is in a state where innovation is the key to survival. The pace of new technology in our industry is high, and in order to accommodate our customers’ needs we have to stay updated and constantly innovate our own products as well. Covid-19 definitely affected our industry, but an interesting consequence of people spending more time at home was the wish to upgrade their spaces, including the light. We witnessed an increase in private home inquiries especially focusing on the ambiance, changing scenes and more accurate lighting control systems. Smart lighting has gone from being something too technical and a non user friendly concept to being a simple and basic part of most homes. Naturally we monitor the advances made with this technology to make sure our products and solutions comply with the newest interfaces.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
HER Lighting: I guess the latest big trend we witnessed in the industry was the magnetic track systems, providing much more flexibility and options, which most manufacturers now possess in their catalogues. Usually lighting fairs provide good pointers for what is the next market trends, but due to Covid-19 we haven’t been to as many as we would like the last couple of years.
Graphene is a material that has received a lot of attention because of its ability to revolutionize the LED industry. Using the incredibly strong yet flexible material as filaments can according to studies help dissipate heat very effectively, increasing the efficiency with about 10% compared to standard LED light sources used today. This evolution is one that will be exciting to follow in the coming years, as it could change both the lighting industry but also many other industries.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
HER Lighting: While bringing unique designs and silhouettes to the market, we are constantly eager to innovate the technology inside to bring a better product to our customers. Tunable white LED modules and drivers providing dynamic color temperature, experimenting with lenses to keep glare at a minimum and smart lighting systems are some of the most innovative products we currently offer. Lately we have been experimenting with different sizes for fixtures to find the perfect proportions for some of our products. Compact, smaller fixtures providing the same lumen as larger ones are something we’ve had in our catalogue for a while and a technology we keep developing.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?
HER Lighting: We have high hopes for 2023, and moving into the new year with lots of ideas and motivation. New products and catalogue are around the corner, so we can’t wait to introduce these new innovations we’ve been working on for so long for our existing and new clients.
Expanding our business will always be a goal any given year, and 2023 is no difference. We’re always clear that expansion cannot go at the expense of quality in any way, so having patience and not rushing anything in product development, logistics or projects is important to us, as well as providing consistent great service.
