INTERVIEW WITH PERI

With sales of € 1,614 million in 2021, PERI is one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of formwork and scaffolding systems in the world. The family-owned company, with its headquarters in Weissenhorn (Germany), a workforce of around 9,100 employees, more than 60 subsidiaries and well over 160 warehouse locations, provides its customers with innovative system equipment and comprehensive services relating to all aspects of formwork and scaffolding technology.

Easy Engineering: What’s the news about new products?

PERI: PERI developed with RCS MAX an innovative climbing system with revolutionary climbing sequence. It is the further development of the proven RCS Rail Climbing System.

The new components, the RCS MAX Hydraulic Unit as well as the RCS MAX Drive Rails can be easily combined with existing RCS material to optimize the performance of the system. The cylinder is now firmly connected to the system and climbs along with it. This makes cumbersome conversions a thing of the past, saving valuable time and costs on the construction site. The vertical loads can be transferred via a climbing shoe into the already cured concreting section, thus enabling faster concreting cycles. Furthermore, due to reduced cylinder cycles, RCS MAX now needs fewer steps to reach the next position.

PERI is also setting new standards in terms of safety with the innovative climbing system, because the decentralized hydraulics allow synchronous climbing of all platforms. This eliminates fall edges and reduces potential sources of danger for site personnel. Clever features such as the dead man’s switch, an automatic stop in case of overload and collision as well as an emergency stop switch on each platform round off the well thought-out safety concept. Complete monitoring of the climbing process is also possible by light signals on the RCS MAX Hydraulic Unit and by the display.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

PERI: Whether high-rise buildings, tunnels, bridges or piers: PERI has a great portfolio of products for the segments highrise and infrastructure. Furthermore, the company is well-known for its formwork and scaffolding systems. The advantage: Most of the PERI systems can easily be combined for an easier, safer and more efficient work on the construction site. Furthermore, the PERI engineering services ensure even the most demanding civil engineering projects can be carried out. The portfolio is rounded off by digital tools.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

PERI: PERI has more than 60 subsidiaries all over the world, e.g. in Germany, UK, France, Sweden, Poland, Romania, Italy, Spain, USA, Singapore, Japan, South Africa, Turkey, UAE, Australia and many more. Additionally, PERI has 160 logistic centres worldwide.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

PERI: The construction industry is changing faster than ever and is craving ingenuity and creativity. In view of the global developments of labor and housing shortages, increasing productivity is a major challenge for the construction industry. PERI is therefore actively engaged in researching disruptive technologies that have the potential to revolutionize the construction industry and house building of the future.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

PERI: With a wide range of digital services and products, PERI offers support on the way to the digital future of construction. The portfolio ranges from the initial visualization of the construction project right through to the option of monitoring the final results with pinpoint accuracy: In addition to in-house planning software, a system configurator, the PERI component library for BIM software and the myPERI Customer Portal, PERI also offers sensor technologies for determining material conditions. With 3D construction printing, PERI has already been demonstrating its competence for several years in breaking new ground, setting impulses and leading disruptive technologies to market maturity, even outside the traditional formwork business. In the printing technology, PERI relies on the COBOD BOD2 gantry printer from the Danish manufacturer and market leader COBOD, in which PERI has already held a stake since 2018. On the exhibition bauma, PERI will be presenting numerous other innovative technologies – just visit us on at our exhibition hall at the northern open-air site (booth FN 719) in Munich from 24 to 30 October 2022.

E.E: What estimations do you have for the rest of 2022?

PERI: Just in time for the exhibition bauma, PERI will be presenting a brand new powerful system with two applications for bridge pier constructions. The system allows fast cycle times, meaning that a lower number of formwork sets need to be kept in stock.
